Getting to know Lucy of Lucy Claire Bakes

A few of you may have read the about section on my website but I thought I would get around the fluff. Here's some fun facts about me that are a little bit more exciting (hopefully!)!

  1. I have a degree in Sports Development and I was a Sports Development Officer for a few years. A far cry from my current cake life.

  2. I am super competitive - not in the sense that I get a little bit annoyed at losing monopoly but that I want to be the best at everything, and I mean everything! Being the little sister of the family will do that to you.

  3. I am a self taught baker - apart from the odd food science GCSE, I have mainly learnt my Grandma, Mum and grafted myself to learn as much as I can. Mainly trial and error, testing, going on short courses or classes.

  4. I'm quite an excitable character - I get very very excited for sunsets or even the latest organiser from Paperchase - just a teeny weeny bit sad! It's something about that feeling of being giddy that I have an addiction to!

  5. One could say I'm a little bit scatty - if you give me a list of 3 things, I'll complete half of one and then get distracted by googling the population of China or something ridiculous.

  6. Chocoholic/sugarholic/cakeaholic - probably where the excited-ness comes from (sugar highs!).

Why start a blog?

I love asking questions and learning, I was hoping I would learn along the way with this but I honestly have no idea why I started a blog. I ummed and ahhed about it, and worry that no one would care (there will be more about my people pleasing mentality in blogs to come!). Also I have get major admin anxiety along with my short attention span so I thought I might not be able to keep it up! Then there's my dyslexia, but hopefully this will reach some people and find it interesting.

What will the blog be about?

Cake tips and tricks, recipes, business updates, day in the life, maybe the odd interview and a bit more about things such as running a business. I'm hoping it will develop over time and feedback from readers will bring it to life about what they're looking for. I also want to enjoy the writing and sharing part.

These won't be long winded blogs that are never ending. Short and sweet with a few sprinkles of happiness! I'm really looking forward to this journey.
